Instead of drinking one 20oz Coke (240 calories) per day, you decide to consume a diet Coke (0 calories). After 365 days, you would have lost 25lbs. This is WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING ELSE DIFFERENT. No exercise, no nutrition alterations, etc. Just think if you decided to exercise and shape up your eating habits? 25lbs could easily turn into 50 or 100lbs!
Get my point?
I think that most of the population is unfamiliar when it comes to understanding calories, which is probably the reason why we have an obesity problem here in the U.S. One pound of fat is created by 3,500 excess calories. For example, if you wanted to lose one pound of fat, you would have to have a caloric deficit of 3,500 calories. This can be done by being more physically active (exercising) or eating less. I recommend a combo of both. No wonder why losing weight is so difficult!
Most beverages have AT LEAST 100 calories per 8oz. An individual can easily consumer over 1,000 calories per day in drinks alone! Hopefully this post will now make you more aware of what you are drinking!
Best beverage to drink? Good 'ol fashioned H2O. Don't like water? Try adding crystal light packets to flavor it up. They have minimal calories, and can taste pretty darn good. And please, please, quite drinking Gatorade. At least switch to G2. You don't need it when you exercise. Unless you're exercising over 90 minutes. Or play professional football.
Stop drinking your calories! Make it happen.
